Hotbird 8 pre-launch details

Eutelsat’s Hotbird 8 broadcast satellite is being prepared in Baikonur for an ILS Proton Briz M launch scheduled for 4 August at 2148 UTC. Based on EADS Space’s Eurostar E3000, Hotbird 8 is the most powerful satellite ever ordered to serve Europe.

Rokot successfully launches South Korea’s KOMPSAT-2

Rocket: Rokot; Payload: KOMPSAT-2 [Arirang-2]; Date: 28 July 2006, 0705 UTC; Launch Site: Plesetsk, Russia. The launch vehicle deployed the Earth observation satellite of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) into a Sun-synchronous orbit of 685 km altitude.
