Gilat deal runs into trouble; company reports Q2 2008 results

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. said a group of private investors that in March 2008 agreed to buy the company said they would not close the deal at the agreed upon price of US$475 million. The company also reported its results for the second quarter ending 30 June 2008.

China to help Laos with satellite technology

China will, under a recently signed agreement, help Laos develop a telecommunications satellite and a ground station, and train relevant staff, Lao newspaper Vientiane Times reported.

Russia to build satellite for Angola

Angola reportedly ordered a satellite from Russia. ANGOP news agency said that the government of Angola had formalised the project.

Arianespace to launch Koreasat 6 in 2010
