Iran successfully launches microsatellite

Rocket: Safir 2; Payload: Omid; Date: 2 February 2008, 1830 UTC (estimated); Site: undisclosed, Iran. The launch resulted in two trackable objects in orbit, likely the Omid satellite and the rocket’s upper stage.

Arianespace to launch Hispasat 1E

Spanish operator Hispasat has chosen Arianespace to launch its new communications satellite, Hispasat 1E. It is the first launch contract of 2009 signed by Arianespace.

Cassini to switch to backup thrusters
