Cable Or Satellite TV?

If you’re considering entertainment within your home should you opt in for cable TV or should you consider a satellite system? Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Cost does not seem to be an advantage either way. But where you live could be the determining factor to which way you go. So let’s take a quick look at these two systems to determine which is best for you.

U.S. Air Force set for launch of DMSP F-18

The U.S. Air Force is set to launch its next Defense Meteorological Program satellite, DMSP Flight 18, from Vandenberg Air Force Base’s Space Launch Complex 3 on 18 October. The launch is scheduled to occur within a 10 minute window beginning at 1612 UTC.

New concept may enhance Earth-Mars communication

Direct communication between Earth and Mars can be strongly disturbed and even blocked by the Sun for weeks at a time, cutting off any future human mission to the Red Planet. An ESA engineer working with engineers in the UK may have found a solution using a new type of orbit combined with continuous-thrust ion propulsion.

Overwatch solutions selected for Yahsat system

Overwatch, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company, announced that its Communications Systems business has been selected by Astrium Limited of the United Kingdom to provide satellite communications (SATCOM) solutions in support of Yahsat.

Weather No Longer Washes Out Satellite Reception

Modern-day satellite reception, for both internet and television services, is very reliable. One of the occasional arguments against satellite usage once pertained to its susceptibility to the effects of weather. In all but the very most extreme and rare instances, this is no longer a viable concern.
