Japan sets launch date for first HEO navigation augmentation satellite

The launch of the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 18 (H-IIA F18) with the first Quasi-Zenith Satellite “Michibiki” onboard is scheduled for 2 August, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) announced. The satellite is the first in Japan’s planned three-spacecraft GPS augmentation constellation.

TAS to build Eutelsat W6A

Eutelsat Communications has selected Thales Alenia Space to build a 40-transponder Ku-band satellite enabling a 50 percent increase in capacity operated at its 21.5 degrees East location in geostationary orbit.

SS/L delivers EchoStar XV

Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) has shipped a new communications satellite built for DISH Network to the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan, where it is scheduled to launch in early July aboard an ILS Proton Briz M vehicle provided by International Launch Services (ILS).

FASTSAT satellite readies for shipment to Alaska

NASA has successfully completed a comprehensive pre-shipment review of the Fast, Affordable, Science and Technology Satellite, or FASTSAT, a small, microsatellite class spacecraft bus that will carry six experiment payloads to low-Earth orbit.

Cable TV Loses Customers to Competition and Poor Customer Service

Year after year for the last several decades we have complained about cable television service. When we called them for service we were told they would be there next week somewhere between 8 am and 7pm. That meant we’d have to take the day off of work to sit in the house and wait.
