South Korea, Russia blame each other for KSLV-1 failure

“[T]he real mess hasn’t even begun,” the Korea Times notes after the botched KSLV-1 (Naro-1) launch, predicting “an ugly finger-pointing battle” between South Korean and Russian officials. At least the number of theories that try to explain the rocket’s malfunction 137 seconds after lift-off is growing by the hour.

Asia Broadcast Satellite acquires Koreasat-3

KT Corporation (KT) and Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) announced that they have completed their second successful transaction in less than 12 months with the execution of the agreement for the sale and purchase of the Koreasat-3 satellite.

Tac Sat-3 completes experimental mission, becomes operational

The Tactical Satellite-3 will transition from an experimental demonstration to an operational asset when spacecraft control authority officially transfers from the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate to Air Force Space Command on 12 June.

Latest GPS satellite begins L5 signal test transmissions

Officials from the Space and Missile Systems Center’s Global Positioning Systems Wing announced that the first GPS IIF satellite, which was launched 27 May, has begun test transmissions of the new L5 navigation signal.
