Arianespace launches two satellites for Africa, announces new contracts

Rocket: Ariane 5 ECA; Payload: Rascom-QAF1R, Nilesat 201; Date: 4 August 2010, 2201 UTC; Launch Site: Kourou, French Guiana. Nilesat 201 was released first in the flight sequence, being deployed from the top of Ariane 5’s payload “stack” at just under 29 minutes into the mission, followed by RASCOM-QAF1R.

New launch date set for Japan’s Michibiki

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency have announced a new date for the launch of the first quasi-zenith satellite “Michibiki” aboard H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 18.

Ukraine delays delivery of Taurus II parts

Ukraine’s state owned company Yuzhmash postponed the delivery of a basic part of the Taurus-II launch vehicle’s first stage to Orbital in the U.S., the Ukranian company said in a statement.
