ABS, SS/L sign contract for ABS-2

Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) and Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) have contracted for Space Systems/Loral to manufacture the ABS-2 spacecraft which is scheduled for launch in 2013.

Spanish scientists develop system for capturing satellites in space

Scientists at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) have developed a new system for docking and capturing space satellites based on robotics and computer vision technology to autonomously guide a space vehicle to dock and capture the satellites, the university said.

Chang’e-2 has sufficient fuel for return to Earth

China’s second unmanned lunar probe, Chang’e-2, is expected to have enough fuel to fly back to Earth, the vice chief-designer of the Beijing Aerospace Control Center (BACC) said.

Paradigm Services to lease full X-band capacity on Anik G1

Paradigm Services, part of Astrium Services’ Telecoms division, has entered into a 15-year contract with Telesat for the full X-band payload on Telesat’s Anik G1 satellite.

Sirius XM adds over 334,000 net subscribers in Q3

Sirius XM Radio announced that it added 334,727 net subscribers in the third quarter of 2010, compared to a net subscriber gain of 102,295 in the third quarter of 2009. At the same time, an investigation has been launched into how the company gets its subscribers.
