Arianespace to launch Azerbaijan’s first satellite

The International Relations and Accounting Center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan has chosen Arianespace to launch the country’s first communications satellite, AzerSpace 1 (a.k.a. Africasat 1a).

STS-133 delayed until end of the month

NASA has postponed the launch of space shuttle Discovery to no earlier than 0905 UTC on 30 November. The delay will allow engineers and technicians time to diagnose and repair a hydrogen gas leak detected while filling the external tank. They also will assess a foam crack on the external fuel tank’s liquid oxygen intertank flange. The crack was discovered during de-tanking operations.

Vega’s P80 first stage is rolled out to launch facility

A representative P80 first stage for Vega is now on the launch pad in French Guiana, marking a milestone in preparations for next year’s introduction of this lightweight vehicle, which will be operated by Arianespace in commercial missions.

Cassini spacecraft enters safe mode

MDA to sell property information business

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. announced that it has executed definitive agreements for the sale of its Property Information business, which is principally located in the U.S. and Europe. This business, which provides property information to insurance companies, lenders, and legal professionals, will be acquired by TPG Capital.
