Progress M-08M de-orbited

The Russian Progress M-08M space cargo ship undocked from the International Space Station and was de-orbited shortly afterwards.

Lockheed Martin opens new virtual laboratory

Lockheed Martin said it plans to increase the affordability and efficiency of space system development with the opening of a new advanced technology and virtual simulation facility, known as the Collaborative Human Immersive Laboratory (CHIL).

‘Smartphone satellite’ developed by Surrey space researchers

Space researchers at the University of Surrey and Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) have developed ‘STRaND-1′, a satellite containing a smartphone payload that will be launched into orbit around the Earth later this year.

First phase of GPS constellation expansion completed

The U.S. Air Force’s 50th Space Wing announced the completion of phase one of a two phase Global Positioning System constellation expansion known as “Expandable 24.”

Albanian Post to use Astra2Connect

SES Astra announced that it will provide the Albanian Post with its satellite broadband service Astra2Connect to offer customers free Internet access in rural areas throughout the country. In addition, Astra2Connect will be used by the Albanian Post for its daily operations.
