TAS delivers sounder for Megha-Tropiques

Thales Alenia Space has delivered to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) the flight model of the Radio Occultation Sounder for the Atmosphere (ROSA), which will be integrated into the Indian-French Megha-Tropiques mission designed to study our planet’s atmosphere. The delivery took place at ISRO’s Satellite Centre (ISAC) in Bangalore.

Iran’s Rasad-1 completes mission

Head of Iran Space Agency (ISA) Hamid Fazeli says the country’s Rasad 1 (“Observation”) satellite has successfully completed its mission following its launch aboard a Safir rocket in mid-June.

Zapping satellites from your backyard for less than 1,000 bucks?

“With it’s intergalactic range of 85 miles [136 km], the S3 Krypton is the first and only handheld laser visible from outer space,” claims a company called Wicked Lasers and warns – nudge nudge, wink wink – that it must not be directed against satellites. A hand-held satellite zapper for less than US$1,000?
