Soyuz-U returns to flight, launches new Progress vessel

Rocket: Soyuz-U; Payload: Progress M-13M (Progress 45P); Date: 30 October 2011, 1011 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. Ascent was nominal, and all spacecraft systems were without issues.

Arianespace to launch Australian satellite Optus 10

Arianespace and Optus announced that the Optus 10 satellite would be launched into geostationary transfer orbit mid-2013 by an Ariane 5 from the Guiana Space Center, Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana.

EMCORE awarded solar panel manufacturing contract for LADEE

EMCORE Corporation has been awarded a contract by ASRC Research and Technology Solutions (ARTS), Greenbelt, Maryland for the design, manufacturing and delivery of solar panels for NASA Ames’ Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) mission.

NRC evaluates NASA’s orbital debris programmes

In order to enhance the benefits of its meteoroid and orbital debris (MMOD) programmes, NASA should re-prioritise, re-focus, and expand the programs’ efforts, according to a recent report from the U.S. National Research Council.

NASA confirms “suspicious events”

NASA has confirmed it “experienced two suspicious events with the Terra spacecraft in the summer and fall of 2008. There was no manipulation of data, no commands successfully sent to the satellite, and no data captured.”

MBC Group picks Atlantic Bird 7 to support HDTV Roll-Out
