MUOS-1 launch now set for 24 February

The launch of an Atlas V carrying the United States Navy’s Mobile User Objective System-1 (MUOS-1) payload from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station is set for Friday, 24 February following two weather scrubs late last week.

Next Chinese satellite launch imminent

China apparently plans to launch a satellite from Xichang Satellite Launch Center on 24 February at around 1620 UTC, according to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by Chinese authorities.

Telefonica sells Hispasat stake for EUR124 million

Telefonica SA said it will sell its stake in satellite company Hispasat SA for EUR124 million (US$164 million) to Abertis Telecom as Spain’s biggest phone operator disposes of assets to reduce debt.

ViaSat brings lawsuit against Loral for patent infringement, breach of contract

ViaSat Inc. announced it has served a complaint for patent infringement and breach of contract against Space Systems/Loral and Loral Space & Communications related to the unauthorised use of ViaSat’s intellectual property, including technology ViaSat developed for its ViaSat-1 satellite.
