The first Space Based Infrared Systems geosynchronous Earth orbit satellite, currently undergoing a rigorous operational certification process, is meeting or exceeding performance requirements, and on track to be delivered into operations.

Polar Broadband Ltd., the company that plans to use Russia’s stranded Express-AM4 satellite for providing communications services to the Antarctic, said it was not aware of an official decision by Russian authorities to de-orbit the spacecraft.
