EchoStar XVII, MSG-3 pre-launch details

Arianespace will orbit two satellites on its third Ariane 5 launch of the year: the dedicated Internet satellite EchoStar XVII for the U.S. operator and service provider Hughes, and the MSG-3 weather satellite for EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites.

Shizuku (GCOM-W1) inserted into A-Train orbit

JAXA confirmed that the Global Change Observation Mission 1st – Water “Shizuku” (GCOM-W1) was inserted into a planned position on the A-Train orbit as a result of orbit control performed on 29 June 2012. The satellite was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center on 17 May 2012 (UTC).

Sentinel mission control taking shape

While industrial partners build the first Sentinel satellites, experts at ESA are developing and testing vital mission control systems for engineers to operate the craft once in orbit. For the mission operations teams at ESOC, ESA’s European Space Operations Centre, it also means developing the hardware, software, networks and other resources on the ground to operate the satellite.

Kratos ISE to provide TT&C RF System for Africasat-1a

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. announced that its Integral Systems Europe Limited subsidiary (ISE) has been selected by Measat Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. to deliver an RF System for integration at Measat’s Cyberjaya Teleport and Broadcast Centre near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

S. K. Shivakumar takes over as Director of ISRO Satellite Centre, Bangalore

S. K. Shivakumar, Distinguished Scientist and Associate Director,ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bangalore, has assumed the office of Director, ISRO Satellite Centre. He took over the charge from Dr. T. K. Alex, the outgoing Director. ISAC is ISRO’s premier Centre for conceptualisation, design, fabrication, testing, integration and in-orbit commissioning of satellite systems.
