Astrium telecoms equipment selected to fly on the Jabiru-1 Mission

Astrium has won a contract to supply telecommunication products for NewSat’s Jabiru-1 satellite, primed by Lockheed Martin. This contract is the first from Lockheed Martin for this type of equipment.

Telespazio to build OPTSAT Earth observation satellite system

Telespazio, a Finmeccanica/Thales company, has signed a contract with the Italian Ministry of Defence to build, in the capacity of prime contractor, a military high-resolution optical satellite system for Earth observation called OPTSAT-3000.

Earth-observing camera to launch to International Space Station

A remote-controlled Earth-observing camera system called ISERV will be launched to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s third H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV-3) this week. Once installed, the system will be directed by researchers on the ground to acquire imagery of specific areas of the globe for disaster analysis and environmental studies.

e-GEOS to support Sentinel 1 and 2 operations

e-GEOS, the company created by the Italian Space Agency (20%) and Telespazio (80%), has signed a contract with ESA to provide X-band and payload data processing services through its Matera Space Centre in support of the operational activities of the first two satellites of the Sentinel constellation, which will be used for the European Union’s GMES programme.
