Zenit 3-SL not to blame for Intelsat 19 solar array anomaly

Space Systems/Loral and Sea Launch AG announced that the Independent Oversight Board (IOB) formed to investigate the solar array deployment anomaly on a satellite launched in the spring of 2012 – Intelsat 19 – has successfully reached a unanimous conclusion.

Soyuz TMA-07M on its way to the ISS

Rocket: Soyuz-FG; Payload: Soyuz TMA-07M; Date: 19 December 2012, 1212 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. Nine minutes after lift-off, the crewed spaceship separated from the booster rocket and reached the assigned elliptical orbit.

Arinespace’s 10th and final launch in 2012 successful

Rocket: Ariane 5 ECA; Payload: Skynet 5D, Mexsat Bicentenario; Date: 19 December 2012, 2149 UTC; Launch site: Kourou, French Guiana. Skynet 5D was deployed 28 minutes after lift-off as planned, followed by Mexsat Bicentenario eight minutes later.

LM Athena launch vehicles selected as USAF launch services provider

The U.S. Air Force announced that Lockheed Martin’s Athena launch vehicle family has been selected to become part of the Air Force’s Orbital/Suborbital small and medium space lift programme (OSP-3).

AIA welcomes long-awaited congressional action on satellite export control reform

The Aerospace Industries Association said it applauds U.S. Congress for moving to end the draconian over-regulation of commercial satellite exports. The fiscal year 2013 National Defense Authorisation Act would return authority to the president to determine appropriate export control requirements for commercial satellites and related technologies after years of mandating the imposition of inflexible, military-level controls.

Gogo signs major capacity deal with SES for in-flight broadband

Gogo, a provider of in-flight connectivity, and SES announced the signature of milestone capacity and ground support agreements to deliver Gogo broadband services aboard commercial airliners. Coverage includes commercial aircraft flying over the North Atlantic Ocean Region, Europe and the United States.
