External experts to examine Proton production

A special group of experts will be set up at the Khrunichev State Space Research Center for inspecting the entire technological chain of manufacturing the Proton-M carrier rocket, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said.

Baseline configuration of Ariane 6 selected

ESA has approved the final design for a next-generation rocket, Ariane 6. ESA ministers gave political approval for the scheme in Naples, Italy, last November. The objective of Ariane 6 is to maintain guaranteed autonomous access to space for Europe, while minimising exploitation costs and suppressing any support to exploitation.

Astrium will deliver six MTG propulsion systems to OHB

Astrium and OHB System AG, a subsidiary company of the European space and technology group OHB AG, have signed a contract for the delivery of propulsion systems for six Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) weather satellites.

EaglePicher awarded lithium ion battery contract for ICESat-2

EaglePicher Technologies, LLC has been selected by Orbital Sciences Corporation to provide lithium ion batteries to support the ICESat-2 Ice, Cloud, and Land Elevation Satellite based on Orbital’s LEOStar-3 design.

SSL celebrates 2,000 satellite years in orbit

Space Systems/Loral announced that it reached the milestone of 2,000 satellite years on orbit this month. With its first satellite that provided a full year service launched in 1966, SSL has provided more than 250 satellites to 43 different satellite operators in more than 15 countries around the world.
