DMSP-F19 launch time

A launch time has been set for the launch of the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program Flight 19 (DMSP-F19) military weather satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The 10-minute launch window opens on 3 April opens at 1446 UTC.

Orbital to launch CYGNSS

NASA has selected Orbital Sciences Corp. to launch the Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) mission. CYGNSS will launch in October 2016 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida aboard a Pegasus XL rocket from Orbital’s “Stargazer” L-1011 aircraft.

ADS signs ESA contract for Sentinel-5 instrument

Airbus Defence and Space will be the European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) prime contractor for the development and construction of the high-precision Sentinel-5 instrument worth EUR144 million. The instrument will monitor the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere globally on a daily basis by taking measurements of trace gases and aerosols that have an impact on the climate and air quality.

Sea Launch celebrates 15-year anniversary of test flight

Sea Launch today celebrated the 15 year anniversary of the successful maiden launch of the Zenit-3SL ocean-based launch system with the DemoSat spacecraft that occurred on 27 March 1999.
