Delay of the day: Delta II/OCO-2

The launch of a United Launch Alliance Delta II carrying NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2) satellite was scrubbed today due to an issue with the water suppression system that is used to flow water on the launch pad to dampen the acoustic energy during launch.

Leaky valve blamed on Angara launch abort

A defect in the drainage valve of the liquid oxygen tank detected during pre-launch tests led to cancellation of the first test launch of the light-class Angara carrier rocket 19 seconds prior to engine ignition.

SSL selected to provide multi-mission satellite to Hispasat

Space Systems/Loral (SSL) announced that it was selected to provide a multi-mission communications satellite to Spanish satellite operator Hispasat Group. The satellite, Hispasat 1F will be used for a broad range of services in Europe and the Americas.

ViaSat and Eutelsat link high-capacity Ka-band satellite networks

ViaSat Inc. and Eutelsat Communications have entered into a pioneering agreement that will enable service access and roaming on each other’s high-capacity satellite networks (KA-SAT for Eutelsat and ViaSat-1 for ViaSat).

Boeing names Craig Cooning president of Network & Space businesses
