Planetary Resources’ first spacecraft successfully deployed

Planetary Resources, Inc. announced that its Arkyd 3 Reflight (A3R) spacecraft deployed successfully from the International Space Station’s (ISS) Kibo airlock and has begun its 90-day mission.

ARIEL to examine hot planets

A European mission is being planned to answer fundamental questions about how planetary systems form and evolve. ARIEL (Atmospheric Remote-Sensing Infrared Exoplanet Large-survey) will investigate the atmospheres of several hundred planets orbiting distant stars. It is one of three candidate missions selected last month by the European Space Agency (ESA) for its next medium-class science mission, due for launch in 2026 aboard an Ariane 6-2.
