Boeing to build Silkwave-1

A Boeing 702 satellite will expand multimedia communications for mobile users in China, India and other markets in Asia when it enters service in 2018. New York Broadband LLC (NYBB) is procuring the satellite, and will lease capacity to CMMB Vision to provide a comprehensive suite of media and information services to Asian customers.

SES and Global Eagle Entertainment double capacity

Satellite broadband growth to pause before HTS reignites market

NSR’s 14th edition of the VSAT & Broadband Satellite Markets report forecasts the entire broadband satellite market to add 8.4 million new sites and generate US$13.6 billion U.S. in total revenue by 2024. With both Enterprise VSAT and Trunking/Backhaul remaining increasingly lucrative via HTS supply, North America will lead a two-thirds growth in Consumer Broadband Access.
