SpaceX silent after Crew Dragon explosion

There has been an unusual silence following the “anomaly” that occurred during testing a SpaceX Dragon-2 (aka Crew Dragon) spacecraft. SpaceX and NASA confirmed there was an “anomaly” but so far did not provide any details regarding the incident. A leaked video suggests that a rather large explosion took place, though.

Delay of the day: Proton M/Blagovest

The launch of the final military telecommunications satellite of Russia’s Blagovest constellation from the Baikonur Cosmodrome has been put off from May to July, a source in the space industry was quoted as saying by Sputnik news agency.

Latest node in the European Data Relay System passes antenna tests

The latest component in the European Data Relay System (EDRS) has passed another important milestone. Tests have successfully concluded on the antennas of the EDRS-C satellite.

Xplornet announces agreement for Hughes JUPITER 3 satellite

Canadian rural broadband service provider Xplornet Communications Inc. has entered into a lifetime agreement with Hughes Network Systems, LLC (Hughes), for substantially all of Canadian satellite broadband capacity on Hughes’ next-generation JUPITER 3 (aka EchoStar XXIV) Ultra High Density Satellite.

Iridium awarded gateway support and maintenance contract by U.S. DoD

Iridium Communications Inc. announced that it has been awarded a new contract by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to continue supporting the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Enhanced Mobile Satellite Service (EMSS) gateway.
