NASA’s Glenn Research Center and Boeing employees have won the 2008 NASA Software of the Year Award for the development of a general-purpose programme used to perform trajectory optimisation and performance studies for a wide variety of vehicles including aircraft, rockets, satellites and interplanetary vehicles.

Intelsat, Ltd. was named “Operator of the Year” at the 2009 SatCom Africa conference last week in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The World Teleport Association (WTA) announced the recipients of its 14th annual Teleport Awards for Excellence. The awards are presented each year to organisations and individuals whose achievements have been deemed exceptional by the international trade association and its awards committees, made up of industry members from across the globe.

Spectrolab Inc., a wholly owned Boeing subsidiary, this week received the 2008 SpotBeam Award for Space Innovation from the California Space Authority (CSA) in recognition of its 50 years of advancements in photovoltaic solar cell technology, solar panels and related products.

Astrium’s Skynet 5 satellite design and manufacturing team, led by Patrick Wood, FRAeS, the Skynet 5 Project Director, has received two specialist awards from The Royal Aeronautical Society, UK.
