First Advanced EHF satellite encapsulated; launch date set

The first Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) military communications satellite was encapsulated into the fairing in preparation for a lift-off on 14 August aboard an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

U.S. Air Force announces arrival of first GPS IIF satellite on station

Officials from the Air Space command’s Space and Missile Systems Center’s Global Positioning Systems Wing announced the first GPS IIF satellite (SVN-62) arrived on-station on 1 August.

Indian-French satellite to be launched next year

WISE spacecraft warming up

NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, or WISE, is warming up. The spacecraft is running out of the frozen coolant needed to keep its heat-sensitive instrument chilled.

SEAKR to provide Iridium NEXT communication processor

SEAKR Engineering, Inc., a privately held company, announced that Thales Alenia Space (TAS), the Iridium NEXT prime contractor, has awarded the communication processor for the Iridium NEXT constellation to SEAKR Engineering.

COSGC, Lockheed Martin to develop CubeSat

Students from the Colorado Space Grant Consortium (COSGC) have teamed with Lockheed Martin to develop a miniature satellite, known as ALL-STAR, which stands for Agile Low-cost Laboratory for Space Technology Acceleration and Research.

NGA awards EnhancedView commercial satellite imagery contract

The U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has awarded contracts for the EnhancedView commercial imagery program. DigitalGlobe Inc. received an award for US$3.5 billion and GeoEye Imagery Collection Systems Inc. an award for US$3.8 billion.
