Number of detected FY-1C fragments rises dramatically

China may have set a new, questionable world (or space?) record by destroying its defunct Fengyun 1C (FY-1C) weather satellite in an anti satellite (ASAT) weapon test. In related news, the country announced (or threatened?) to launch more weather satellites.

Sea Launch delayed again

Unchanged unfavourable conditions at the equatorial launch site have forced Sea Launch to once more delay lift-off of its Zenit-3SL with NSS-8 on board.

Hubble camera shuts down again

NASA said its engineers are examining a problem related to the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) aboard the agency’s Hubble Space Telescope. The instrument has shut down the third time within six months.
