The Technology of Marine Satellite TV

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could watch TV on our boat? It seems as if we can watch TV almost anywhere-at home, in the office, on our laptop or even on our cell phone! However, what about watching TV on a boat? It may not be possible, or so you think, since cell towers are a long way off and you have no Internet to connect to way out there in the ocean. Rejoice!

Akatsuki launch rescheduled

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency have announced a new date for the launch of the Akatsuki (Planet-C) Venus Climate Orbiter aboard an H-IIA rocket.

Delta IV GPS IIF-01 launch set for 20 May

The U.S. Air Force will launch the first Global Positioning System Block IIF satellite, GPS IIF-1, aboard a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on 21 May (UTC).

SES World Skies orders new satellite from Astrium

Prisma pre-launch details

The two Prisma satellites have left Sweden and are expected to arrive at Yasny, Russia, on 19 May. Launch aboard a Dnepr rocket is now scheduled for 15 June – one year later than originally planned.

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory begins its five-year mission

Engineers find cause for Voyager 2 data anomaly

One flip of a bit in the memory of an onboard computer appears to have caused the change in the science data pattern returning from Voyager 2, engineers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory said.
