NASA team still attempting to restore communications with Deep Impact

Ground controllers have been unable to communicate with NASA’s long-lived Deep Impact spacecraft. Last communication with the spacecraft was on 8 August 2013. Deep Impact mission controllers will continue to uplink commands in an attempt to re-establish communications with the spacecraft.

HSS, ABS sign multi-satellite capacity deal

Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) and Hummerlton Security Services (HSS) announced that they have signed a multi-transponder agreement on ABS-2 and ABS-3 satellites. The capacity agreement will provide additional connectivity for HSS to expand its business network and infrastructure for its growing business in Africa.

LADEE with reaction wheel problem after successful launch

Rocket: Minotaur V; Payload: Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE); Date: 7 September 2013, 0327 UTC; Launch site: Wallops Flight Facility, USA. The rocket separated the LADEE spacecraft 23 minutes after lift-off into its intended insertion point, successfully completing the rocket’s five-stage sequence. However, the spacecraft suffered a shutdown of its reaction wheels subsequently. NASA said that the wheels have been brought back online, and that the initial checkout flight procedure is progressing.
