According to ISRO, GSAT 6 has been successfully positioned in its orbital slot of 83 degrees East and co-located with INSAT 4A, GSAT 12, GSAT 10 and IRNSS1C, after carrying out four drift arresting manoeuvres.

Seven weeks after New Horizons sped past the Pluto system to study Pluto and its moons, the mission team will begin intensive downlinking of the tens of gigabits of data the spacecraft collected and stored on its digital recorders. The entire downlink will be taking about one year to complete.

Yosemite Space worked as part of Team Miles to win the NASA Cube Quest Competition, Ground Tournament 1. Yosemite Space contributed radiation shielding designs and mitigation strategies, structure designs and onboard computing. Team Miles will fly Yosemite Space’s Resilient Affordable Cubesat Processor (RACP) as part of the NASA contest.

The Herschel and Planck project teams are this year’s recipients of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Space Systems Award. Both space missions were led by the European Space Agency (ESA), with important participation from NASA.

Processing has been completed for the initial Soyuz Fregat upper stage to be handled in the Fregat Fuelling Facility (FCube) – the newest site at the Guiana Space Center. This milestone Fregat will be used for the upcoming Arianespace medium-lift Soyuz mission, which is set for 10 September with two European Galileo navigation satellites.

According to Euroconsult’s newly released report, Satellites Communications & Broadcasting Markets Survey, Forecasts to 2024, the FSS industry posted an average annual growth rate of 4.3% over 2010-2013 with 2013 showing clear signs of slowdown at only +2%, the lowest growth rate since 2004.
