GomSpace signs contract for low-inclination launch on LauncherOne

GomSpace has purchased a launch for several nanosatellites onboard a LauncherOne rocket from the California based company Virgin Orbit. The flight, which is bound for a low-inclination orbit, is scheduled to occur in early 2019.

RSC Energia: Angosat operations will resume in April

The Angosat spacecraft made at RSC Energia under a contract with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Angola is undergoing scheduled flight tests, the manufacturer said.

Thales Alenia Space to provide X-band Transmitter for KOMPSAT-7

Thales Alenia Space has signed a new contract with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, KARI, to deliver the X-band communications system for the KOMPSAT-7 mission (Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite 7), with a target launch in 2021 and a lifetime of five years.

Delay of the day: Epsilon-3/ASNARO-2

In light of adverse weather predicted for the launch day, JAXA postponed the launch of Epsilon-3, the third Epsilon launch vehicle which encapsulates NEC Small radar satellite “ASNARO-2”, from the JAXA Uchinoura Space Center, to no earlier than 17 January 2018 (UTC).

ULA NROL-47 mission declared success – next launch: SBIRS GEO 4

A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Delta IV rocket carrying a payload for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) lifted off from Space Launch Complex-6 on 12 January at 2211 UTC. Designated NROL-47, the mission is in support of U.S. national defence.

SES-15 enters commercial service to serve the Americas

SES announced that the new SES-15 spacecraft has been operational at the 129 degrees West orbital position since 1 January. As planned, the all-electric satellite took six months to reach its orbital position and to successfully complete its testing.

New Chinese navsats in orbit

Rocket: Chang Zheng 3B/YZ-1; Payload: two Beidou satellites; Date: 11 January 2018, 2318 UTC; Launch site: Xichang Satellite Launch Center, China. The navigation satellites were deployed into medium Earth orbit by the Yuanzheng-1 upper stage.

China launches third land observation satellite

Rocket: Chang Zheng 2D; Payload: LKW-3 (Land Survey Satellite-3); Date: 13 January 2018, 0710 UTC; Launch site: Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre, China. The observation satellite was placed into a Sun-synchronous orbit.
