Update: Lockheed Martin testing advanced launch technologies

The recent test launch for Lockheed Martin at New Mexico’s Spaceport America was that of a space plane prototype. And while officials earlier called the launch a success, the flight that followed it wasn’t one, according to SPACE.com.

ATK conducts first Ares I-X first stage separation test

Alliant Techsystems said recently conducted a successful full-scale severance test of an Ares I-X first stage. The test is a milestone in the development of NASA’s Ares I crew launch vehicle and is another step leading to the flight test of Ares I-X in Spring 2009.

WorldSpace orders sat-radio chips from STMicroelectronics

STMicroelectronics recently signed an agreement with WorldSpace Satellite Radio to develop, manufacture and distribute chips for European Satellite Digital Radio (ESDR) receivers planned for a WorldSpace pan-European and Middle East service offering, starting with Italy in 2009.
