MDA, a Maxar Technologies company (formerly MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd.), announced it has acquired Neptec Design Group Ltd. (Neptec), an electro-optical and electro-mechanical systems and high-performance intelligent Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) company for C$42 million, comprised of approximately C$8 million in cash and the balance in Maxar common shares.

LeoSat Enterprises, which is launching a constellation of low-earth-orbit communications satellites, has entered into an agreement with Hispasat to invest in LeoSat, both companies announced.

Israeli satellite operator Space Communication Ltd. has reportedly been unable to make an advance payment on its US$112 million contract with SSL to build its latest satellite, Amos-8.

Eutelsat Communications S.A. said it noted the recent speculation and confirms that it is currently evaluating a possible offer for Inmarsat.

EchoStar said that it had a near 3% shareholding in Inmarsat, as well as a 10.4% position in its convertible bonds. The disclosure, which was made in a stock exchange filing, comes after Inmarsat announced earlier this month that it had rejected a takeover approach from EchoStar because it “very significantly undervalued” its business.

Shares in Inmarsat Plc surged around 12% on Monday after the company rejected a bid from EchoStar late last week. The approach by EchoStar was for the entire share capital of Inmarsat.
