Dnepr accident was caused by hydraulic failure

The crash of a Dnepr launch vehicle shortly after takeoff from Baikonur cosmodrome at the end of July was caused by a failure in the operation of a hydraulic device, said Nikolai Anfimov, head of the failure investigation commission and general director of TsNIIMash.

Hydraulic drive blamed on Dnepr crash

Kosmotras, the company that markets Dnepr launches, said the crash of a Dnepr on 26 July was caused by a “short-time malfunctioning” of the rocket’s first stage engine.
