AsiaSat recently announced that the Arabsat/ASBU Bouquet and RTB International, Brunei, havestarted broadcasting on AsiaSat 2, joining other Middle Eastern programming for free to air distribution to serve the Arab community in Asia and Australasia.

U.S. Army awards WWSS contract

The U.S. Army said Boeing, General Dynamics and four small businesses were selected to compete under a contract worth up to US$5 billion to provide commercial satellite terminals and associated services to all federal agencies.

Northrop’s Milstar terminals tested with AEHF

Nearly two months of tests conducted by Northrop Grumman Corporation showed that Milstar terminals operated by the U.S. Army and Air Force can send and receive data through the next-generation Advanced Extremely High Frequency Satellite (EHF) military satellite communications system.

FRANCE 24 takes Eutelsat capacity

FRANCE 24, the new French international news channel owned by France Televisions and TF1, has retained capacity on three Eutelsat satellites (Hotbird 7A, Atlantic Bird 2 and Eurobird 1) for broadcasting when it starts broadcasting in December this year.

SES Americom Expands HD-PRIME

SES Americom announced that Comcast, Bresnan Communications, Brighthouse Networks, and Metrocast are among the first group of domestic U.S. cable MSOs to participate in a triple-feed antenna programme, offering access to the next generation of HD channels.

New feeds on AMC-4 digital platform

Six additional television network groups representing ten U.S. East and West Coast feeds have signed up for network transport aboard the Comcast Media Center (CMC) and SES Americom Total Digital Solution, the two companies announced.
