Earthly Orbit increases capacity on Ekspress AM44

Russia’s national operator Russian Satellite Communications company (RSCC) signed a long-term contract with Earthly Orbit, a UK satellite solution provider, for capacity utilisation of the Russian Ekspress AM44 satellite.

MBC Group picks Atlantic Bird 7 to support HDTV Roll-Out

Channel 4 takes additional capacity on Astra 1N

SES S.A. said it has secured a further long-term contract with Channel 4 in the UK to provide additional capacity on its recently launched Astra 1N spacecraft. NASA to demonstrate communications via laser beam

It currently takes 90 minutes to transmit high-resolution images from Mars, but NASA would like to dramatically reduce that time to just minutes. A new optical communications system that NASA plans to demonstrate in 2016 will lead the way and even allow the streaming of high-definition video from distances beyond the Moon.
