European satellite launch operator Arianespace said it had scheduled 13 missions for 2012, the first year in which it would deploy rockets in all three categories of payload. Rocket: Soyuz 2-1a/Fregat; Payload: six Globalstar-2 satellites; Date: 28 December 2011, 1709 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. Arianespace, Starsem and their Russian partners confirmed that the Fregat orbital stage accurately injected the six Globalstar-2 satellites into their targeted orbit.

Arianespace said it lofted a total of 29 payloads using the Ariane 5 and Soyuz members of its launcher family in 2011.

On 22 December 2011, with the successful launch of the Ziyuan-02C [a.k.a. Zi Yuan 1-02C] satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, China completed all of its launch activities in the year 2011. During this year, China conducted 19 launches in total, including nine GTO missions and 10 LEO missions.
