Thales Alenia Space has signed a contract with Empresa Argentina de Soluciones Satelitales SA, ARSAT, to supply the payload for the second Argentine geostationary telecom satellite ARSAT-2, a part of the SSGAT programme (Sistema Satelital Geoestacionario Argentino de Telecomunicaciones).

Avanti said that excellent progress had been made following the launch of the company’s HYLAS 1.

During a regularly scheduled contact with the Kepler spacecraft on 13 December 2010, the project team discovered Kepler had experienced an anomaly. Kepler was found in coarse point attitude, as opposed to finepoint.

The Lockheed Martin A2100 commercial communications satellite fleet has achieved a total of 300 years of successful in-orbit operations.

Arianespace’s year-ending Ariane 5 flight for 2010 has been rescheduled to 28 December between 2126 and 2215 UTC, allowing one of the mission’s customers to perform complementary checks on its payload.

NASA has awarded Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne a contract worth approximately US$622,000 to conduct systems analysis and trade studies for heavy-lift launch vehicle system concepts, propulsion technologies and affordability.

Assembly of the milestone 200th Ariane is now underway at the Spaceport in preparation for its February 2011 mission with Europe’s second Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV), which will service the International Space Station.
