Arianespace has contracted with Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems (LMCSS) to launch the Vinasat-2 satellite for Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) in the second quarter of 2012. Vinasat-2 will be built by LMCSS.

Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) and Taiwan’s National Space Organisation (NSPO) have signed a contract for the launch of NSPO’s Earth Observation Satellite, Formosat-5.

A Chang Zheng 2D rocket is to launch the Chinese Shijian XII satellite “in the near future” from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, a source with the centre was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

Three Ariane 5 launch vehicles are now at the Spaceport in French Guiana as Arianespace ramps up the 2010 mission pace.

The launch of the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 18 (H-IIA F18) with the first Quasi-Zenith Satellite “Michibiki” onboard is scheduled for 2 August, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) announced. The satellite is the first in Japan’s planned three-spacecraft GPS augmentation constellation.

Arianespace has taken delivery of the Ariane 5 launcher for its next mission (V195), which will orbit a dual-passenger payload in a lift-off scheduled on 23 June.
