GIOVE-B launch scheduled for end of April

GIOVE-B, the second experimental satellite for the Galileo satellite navigation system will be launched aboard a Soyuz rocket from Kazakhstan on 27 April after a year-long delay, the European Commission announced. Also, EU transport ministers have reached a compromise on the management of the system.

Update: MUOS satellite to be lofted by Atlas V

The U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center awarded United Launch Alliance a contract modification to perform the launch services for the U.S. Navy’s first Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite aboard an Atlas V Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle.

Next shuttle launch delayed

NASA is targeting 31 May as the launch date for shuttle Discovery’s STS-124 mission to deliver the large Japanese Kibo Pressurised Module to the International Space Station. The lift-off time is approximately 2101 UTC.
