Report: Video, DTH to dominate Asian transponder market

New analysis from Frost & Sullivan, Commercial Geostationary Transponder Market in Asia-Pacific, reveals that transponder leasing in the region earned revenues of US$1.48 billion in 2006 and is estimated to grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 5.1 percent (2007-2011) to reach US$1.89 billion by end-2011.

Government represented more than half of new satellite business in 2006

Hannover Fairs USA, Inc. and Futron Corporation recently announced results of their annual satellite industry survey conducted during the International Satellite Communications exchange (ISCe 2007). For the first time in the six years Futron has conducted the survey, it included questions targeted specifically at military, as well as industry attendees.

Different standards no problem for broadband satellite, report

But the potential cost reductions of a single standard are far less important to the industry than the double digit price premium it continues to earn by remaining focused on underserved communities, according to a report released by Freesky Research.
