Lockheed Martin has received a US$19.4 million support contract extension for the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) spacecraft through September 2018, with a further extension possible through September 2019.

Airbus Defence and Space said it is designing and building a new constellation of optical satellites, comprising four identical and very agile sensors delivering very high-resolution imagery.

Satellite environmental data provider GeoOptics has been awarded a data purchase contract from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under its Commercial Weather Data Pilot programme. SES S.A. announced the procurement of SES-17, a high throughput satellite to be built by Thales Alenia Space. SES has simultaneously entered into a long-term commercial agreement with Thales to offer FlytLIVE, a new inflight connectivity service over the Americas and the Atlantic Ocean region. SES will operate the satellite infrastructure for FlytLIVE, as well as the complementary ground network.

Boeing will build a 702 satellite, called GiSAT, with a new digital payload offering twice the capacity of previous digital payload designs.

Frequency Electronics, Inc. has received and commenced engineering design work on a new multi-satellite payload contract valued in excess of US$6 million.

Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has successfully qualified for the Frame Contract with the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) of the European Space Agency (ESA).

NASA has awarded a contract extension to Lockheed Martin Space Systems Corporation to continue maintaining the health and safety of the agency’s Hubble Space Telescope observatory through the next phase of its science mission.
