Orbital ATK delivers Thaicom 8 to launch site

Orbital ATK, Inc. announced that the Thaicom 8 satellite has arrived at its launch site in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Thaicom 8 is the second satellite Orbital ATK has built for Thaicom PLC and is based on the company’s flight-proven GEOStar-2 platform.

Jason-3 passes final in-orbit acceptance review

Launched in January 2016, the Jason-3 operational oceanography satellite recently passed its in-orbit acceptance review. Jason-3 is a quadripartite programme between Eumetsat and NOAA (the European and American weather satellite organisations), and the French and American space agencies, CNES and NASA.

Kongsberg signs contracts for MetOp-SG systems

Kongsberg has signed two contracts with a total value of EUR23.6 million with Airbus Defence and Space for delivery of a Ka-band Antenna Pointing System and Solar Array Drive Assembly for the next generation European MetOp-Second Generation (MetOp-SG) satellites.

Telesat procures 2 prototype satellites for Ka-band LEO constellation

Telesat has procured two prototype Ka-band satellites for operation in low Earth orbit (LEO) that Telesat anticipates launching mid-to-late 2017 as part of a test and validation phase for an advanced, global LEO satellite constellation that Telesat is developing.

e2v selected to develop CMOS devices for weather satellites

e2v has won a major contract with Airbus DS GmbH to design, develop and supply bespoke Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors for the advanced METimage radiometers that will be integrated in a series of three European Space Agency’s Meteorological Operational (MetOp) second generation weather satellites.
