Lockheed Martin has won a contract valued at US$1.9 billion to build two additional Advanced Extremely High Frequency satellites.

S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia said that work is underway on the OKA-T-ISS project, which is now in the preliminary design stage in accordance with the Russian Federal Space Agency contract. Works completion date for in the preliminary design stage is November 2013.

Payloads developed and manufactured Thales Alenia Space France for the communications spacecraft Ekspress-AT2 and Yamal-401 have arrived safely at Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems.

The Skynet 5D satellite has joined its Mexsat Bicentenario co-passenger on Ariane 5, marking a new milestone in preparations for Arianespace’s seventh and final heavy-lift flight of 2012 from the Spaceport in French Guiana – scheduled for 19 December. The target orbit is 249.7 km x 35,977 km x 2 degrees.
