Nigeria’s first satellite, NigeriaSat-1, has reached end of life after nine years in orbit, outliving its design life by four years. The Russian manned transportation spacecraft Soyuz TMA-06M has docked with the International Space Station (ISS) after two days of free flight in low Earth orbit.

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin an US$82 million contract to begin initial work on the fifth and sixth geosynchronous (GEO) satellites in the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) missile warning constellation.

Astrium has presented at the ESA Preliminary System Requirement Review the major results of its Lunar Lander Phase B1 study. Carried out on behalf of the European Space Agency ESA, the study has consolidated the mission concept for automatic landing near the Moon’s south pole in 2019 as well as the provisional design of the lunar lander vehicle.
