Lockheed Martin has received the core structure for the U.S. Air Force’s fourth Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) geosynchronous satellite (GEO-4). The structure was delivered to Lockheed Martin’s Mississippi Space & Technology Center, where engineers and technicians will integrate the spacecraft’s propulsion subsystem.

The Boeing Company has successfully completed a new milestone in the development of software that will operate its Crew Space Transportation (CST) spacecraft. The company is one of NASA’s partners developing commercial crew transportation capabilities to ferry U.S. astronauts to and from low Earth orbit and the International Space Station.

Final pre-launch preparations are underway for NASA’s Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array, or NuSTAR. The mission, which will use X-ray vision to hunt for hidden black holes, is scheduled to launch no earlier than 13 June from Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The observatory will launch from the belly of Orbital Sciences Corporation’s L-1011 “Stargazer” aircraft aboard the company’s Pegasus rocket.
