KT Corporation (KT) and Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) announced that they have signed a multi-million dollar deal for multiple C and Ku-band transponders on ABS’ satellites, including the new ABS-2 satellite scheduled to be operational by the first quarter of 2013.

Globalstar, Inc. has taken delivery of the first three second-generation satellites from manufacturer Thales Alenia Space. Globalstar officials authorised acceptance of the new satellites at the Thales Alenia Space satellite manufacturing facility in Rome.

Thaicom plans to relocate its Thaicom 2 satellite to a new slot in order to secure Thailand’s rights to that position.

Inmarsat has agreed a contract with Boeing for the delivery of three 702HP Ka-band satellites which, through a new network, will deliver speeds of up to 50 megabits per second (Mbps) to customers.

The first three satellites in the Globalstar second-generation constellation are ready to be shipped from Thales Alenia Space facilities to the launch site. They will be orbited by Arianespace on a Soyuz launcher in October from Baikonur, along with three other satellites in the first launch batch, to be delivered by the end of August.

Kazakhstan will build a satellite assembly and testing centre in Astana in 2012 to produce satellites for local and foreign companies in co-operation with EADS Astrium.

SES World Skies, U.S. Government Solutions announced the delivery of the Commercially Hosted Infrared Payload (CHIRP) sensor assembly to Orbital Sciences Corporation .
