WISE sheds instrument cover

NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) space telescope has jettisoned its instrument cover as planned. Engineers and scientists say the manoeuvre went off without a hitch, and everything is working properly.

Three finalists selected for NASA’s next New Frontiers mission

NASA has selected three proposals as candidates for the agency’s next space venture to another celestial body in our solar system. The final project selected in mid-2011 may provide a better understanding of Earth’s formation or perhaps the origin of life on our planet.

WISE to jettison instrument cover

All systems are behaving as expected on NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), which was launched on 14 December from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, USA.

Iranian university announces EO satellite

Iran has announced yet another indigenous satellite: AUT SAT, apparently a small remote sensing spacecraft designed by a university.

Orbital, TAS receive satellite contract from OverHorizon

Orbital Sciences Corporation announced that it has signed a contract for a new geosynchronous (GEO) communications satellite contract with OverHorizon, with offices in the U.S., Sweden and Cyprus.

Sypris receives swards for space electronics work
