Spirit again shows signs of memory loss

Until 24 October NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover Spirit had gone more than six months without an episode of amnesia-like symptoms like those that appeared on four occasions earlier this year. Those symptoms have now reappeared.

Multi-mission COMS-1 satellite is space qualified

Astrium and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) have successfully completed the mechanical and thermal tests on the Communications, Oceanography and Meteorology Satellite COMS-1 , South Korea’s first multi-mission geostationary satellite, and the first ever of its type to be built in Europe.

GOCE operational after passing review

The Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) spacecraft, developed and built by Thales Alenia Space for the European Space Agency (ESA), has completed its in-orbit commissioning and calibration phase, by successfully passing an in-flight test review last week.

First SBIRS GEO spacecraft in baseline testing

Lockheed Martin announced that the second Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) geosynchronous orbit (GEO-2) spacecraft is progressing through a series of key tests that will demonstrate the integrated satellite’s readiness to enter the critical environmental test phase in preparation for launch, the company said.
