UK-DMC2 pre-launch details

SSTL’s UK-DMC2 satellite has successfully completed pre-launch tests and is integrated with a Dnepr launch vehicle at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in readiness for launch on 29 July 2009 at 1846 UTC.

Magnetospheric MultiScale mission approved for implementation

NASA is designing a mission to investigate magnetic reconnection, one of the most fundamental and explosive physical processes in the universe. Known as the Magnetospheric MultiScale (MMS) mission, it was approved for implementation last month following a successful Preliminary Design Review in May 2009.

China’s first space telescope delayed

China has delayed the launch of its first space telescope by two years for cost reasons, Xinhua news agency reports.

First AEHF satellite completes thermal vacuum testing

The first Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite built by Lockheed Martin for the U.S. Air Force has successfully completed final thermal vacuum testing.

Boeing to spin SMAP sensor

Boeing said it has received a contract from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to provide a subsystem for a new spacecraft that will help scientists understand the effects of global warming on water systems and crop yields. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

ATMS approved for manufacturing and production

Measat plans another satellite
