GOES-O pre-launch details

A Delta IV is scheduled to launch the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-O (GOES-O) mission for NASA and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on 26 June from Space Launch Complex-37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

Telesat to use EPOCH software to control SkyTerra satellites

Integral Systems, Inc., announced a contract with Telesat Canada under which Integral will provide its EPOCH Integrated Product Suite (IPS) of satellite command and control software to support the SkyTerra1 and SkyTerra2 satellites under construction by Boeing.

NASA lunar mission successfully enters moon orbit

After a four and a half day journey from the Earth, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO, has successfully entered orbit around the moon. Engineers at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center confirmed the spacecraft’s lunar orbit insertion at 1027 UTC on 23 June.

NASA moon impactor successfully completes lunar swingby

The Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS, successfully completed its most significant early mission milestone today with a lunar swingby and calibration of its science instruments. The satellite will search for water ice in a permanently shadowed crater at the moon’s south pole.

GIOVE-A operations extended for another year

Northrop Grumman delivers first STSS demo satellite

Northrop Grumman Corporation has delivered the first of two Space Tracking and Surveillance System (STSS) demonstration satellites to the U.S. Air Force’s Cape Canaveral Air Station for launch preparation.

NASA awards contract for Kepler planning and mission support

NASA Ames Research Center announced it has selected Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. to receive the Kepler mission “Phase E,” or on-orbit operations contract, valued at US$11.6 million.
